AM: Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do.

RAZOR X: My name is Ochu Nelson but my stage name is Razor X.
I am a 300 level Business Administration student at the University of Lagos.

AM: Why and when did you decide to be an artiste?

RAZOR X: I actually just started my music career. I decided to enter the music industry earlier this year.
My main reasons are because I have great passion for the industry and i have a reasonable amount of musical talent. I recently released my first single It is called ‘Turning Up’ Turning Up-RAZOR X

AM: How did you start up?

RAZOR X: Starting out was and is still difficult because I’m still in the process. I had to take a part time job as a car washer in order to finance my first song, but thanks to God everything is beginning to fall in place.

AM: What has been your biggest challenge and how are you scaling through them?

RAZOR X: The biggest challenge for most artistes starting out is financing issues. Access to money will definitely make my journey to the top of d music world easier, but until i get my big break I’ll have to just tighten my belt, stick to a rigid budget and continue to work part time.

AM: How would you rate the response to your music, from family, friends and the society at large?

RAZOR X: My family do not know I’m into music professionally yet, they might not be supportive of the decision for now so it’s still low key to them, the response from my friends has been pretty great. Thank God for good friends. They’ve got my back all the way. They criticize and motivate me appropriately.

AM: What factors do you think will most likely to help boost your success if set in place?

RAZOR X: If I got a record label deal or a brand endorsement deal it will go a long way in advancing my career. Also getting a feature on any top artiste’s song would also help.

AM: Alright, so where do you see your brand in 10 years and what tools are you setting in place to make it work?

RAZOR X: I see my brand becoming a household name in Nigeria just like the likes of Davido and Wizkid.

AM: What have been your biggest achievement, mistake and motivation?

RAZOR X: My biggest mistake was being too scared to showcase my music to the world. Now i have overcome that fear and I intend to keep improving based on the feed backs I get.

AM: Who would you say is your biggest role model and why?

RAZOR X: Davido is my role model and biggest motivation. This is because of all he has achieved despite his obvious lack of musical talent and frog-like voice. Some say it is money that got him that far but that’s not true because there are others with money who has not achieved half as much. I believe it’s his hard work and ability to stay focused on his goals that got him far. I know if I also work hard and stay focused I will make waves like my mentor despite my average talent. I also look up to YCee, Kizz Daniel, Rekaado Banks, Yungsix and Mayorkun.

AM: Any words for your fans out there.

RAZOR X: My advice to everyone out there is to chase your dream and stay focused on it. No need to entertain fear of anything, and always remember that u lose 100% of the shots that u don’t take. Also don’t forget to check me out on Twitter and Instagram :@razorxofficial
