The Headies Awards is a Nigerian based awards ceremony put together to celebrate artistes who have had exemplary accomplishments in the music industry during the course of the award year. It is put together by the Hip TV crew which is headed by notable mediapreneur Ayo Animashaun. Formerly known as the Hip Hop World Awards, the event is one of the biggest and most anticipated musical awards in the country.
The 2018 Headies awards took place at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island Lagos Nigeria on the 5th of May and was graced by celebrities and notable personalities in the media. It was hosted this this year by Nigerian comedian Bovi and sensational singer Seyi Shay. The awards brought to light a lot of upcoming acts as well as recognising artistes who have been making waves on the music scene recently, topping the winners list for this year were Wizkid, Davido and Simi.
The awards are not only known for honouring musical artistes but also normally have in attendance notable personalities from other aspects of the media and TV. Famous celebrities’ favourite actors and influencers are also present for the fun filled event and this year’s award ceremony was no exception to that. Fashion is usually at its peak for this purpose as celebrities step out looking stunning on the red carpets and also as they present and receive the awards. Year in and year out the fashion statements made on the red carpet has evolved and this years red carpet looks were absolutely mind blowing.
